![]() ![]() I managed to get in long enough to install AnyDesk but I realized there's a problem with AnyDesk as a replacement, which is my lack of a powered on display. This happens repeatedly, forcing me to close it down and come back later. Immediately blocked, timer goes up another minute or two. Okay, it says they'll be blocked for the next two minutes. I got the message that my license limits maximum session duration to a partner, and immediate reconnects are blocked. Upon opening up TeamViewer this morning and attempting to connect to my computer, I was timed out in under 30 seconds. Now for my complaining, and why it appears I'll be switching from TeamViewer to another software. Try the software out, see how it works for you, but you may need to purchase a headless display adapter to get it working and not just showing a black screen. Why TeamViewer did not need this I do not know. This should allow the TeamViewer alternatives to function normally just as TeamViewer did. It's just a little $10 HDMI shaped adapter which allows you to fool your computer into believing there is a powered on display connected to your computer at all times so your GPU will send video data, allowing RDP software to transmit your screen. The good news, is there's this thing called a " headless display adapter". ![]() You'll get a black screen and nothing more.įor some reason this never was an issue for me with TeamViewer, but obviously given the circumstances apparently that's not a reliable option any longer. This may not be the case for you, but for many if you don't have a display connected such as you might on a closed laptop or headless PC, you're typically screwed. This has to do with the way RDP software displays your desktop, and it's typically reliant on your desktop monitor actually being on or your laptop actually being open for your GPU to send video data. I have not found this to be the case with other alternatives (Parsec definitely no, AnyDesk also seems to be no). One very special thing about TeamViewer is it doesn't care if your display is off. There is an important caveat with AnyDesk, Parsec, and maybe Chrome RDP. ![]() ![]() Windows RDP - Warning: Exposing your RDP session directly to the internet IS UNSAFE so don't use it if you don't know what you're doing or how to take steps to protect yourself, such as setting up a VPN Parsec - technically game streaming software, attempts to maintain higher framerates but at a loss of clarity when there is a lot of motion on screenĬhrome Remote Desktop - have not used it personally but it is another option This latest scam from what was a trusted company should and probably will see the end of them.I'm posting this as a resource for anyone else having the issue of the "connection blocked after timeout" message that never goes away, and also to complain (of course).ĪnyDesk - probably the most comparable alternative to TeamViewer We are all aware of alternatives to TeamViewer that also charge, however these alternatives don't lie about a free service they don't charge business rates to occasional home users and are completely up front. So with all this in mind I regretfully see an end to team viewer. If you don't subscribe customer support won't speak to you or reply to emails in fact they closed the support email completely and only now have a sign up email. They state it will always be free yet block everyone that doesn't pay? Software is great but company is a shambles With any luck they will see sense before its too late as greed and social media are the two fastest ways to destroy a business. The reset page is useless and doesn't work either. This so called commercial use detection is nothing more than a scam to make money,I have proved this over and over by using pcs never previously connected to team viewer on new IDs and new IPs and always the same. Team viewer have gone from go to to run a mile. So if this is not fixed soo, I will configure Chrome Remote or use something else.īad communication of that company, I have to say. I definitely need to be able to RC my moms PC to help her occasionally. The official forum is full of this problem, but no reaction by the company whatsowver.Īnd it seems without a payed license, you have 0 way to getting support. I don't think it's the "commercial use" detection, as I didn't use TV for months. So I updated mine and hers to V15.15.5 - I have the full one, she has QS (told her how to do it via phone, that was fun.)Īnd after that, my connection got dropped with exactly this message after less than 1 minute and kept disconnecting me. Was connecting to my moms PC for the first time after months.īut first it yelled at me that my moms version (V14) is outdated. ![]()
